How This Body Type Calculator Works

All three inputs must use the same unit. Because the rules compare proportions, inches and centimetres produce the same classification when the measurements are equivalent.

The calculator checks the oval and hourglass rules first, then compares bust or chest with hips. Measurements near a threshold can change category with a small measuring difference.

Formula

Oval: waist ≥ 95% of max(bust, hips); hourglass: bust and hips within 5% and waist ≤ 75% of min(bust, hips); triangle/inverted: hips or bust ≥ 105% of the other; otherwise rectangle

Example

For bust 36, waist 27, and hips 36, bust and hips are equal and the waist is exactly 75% of either measurement. The published rule therefore returns hourglass.
